NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a FORD, My last vehicle was a Toyota 4 Runner.
Brought it for 22K, drove it for 7 years and 100,000 miles. Sold it for 10K. Never had any problems.

My current Ford Explorer Sport Trac, Brought it 4 years ago and currently have 59,000 miles. So far the following has failed:

Dead Water Pump
Defective Mud Flaps
Defective Door Handles
Defective Fuel Door
Defective Tires (Recall)
Defective Hood Latch (Recall)
Defective 4WD selector switch
Bottoms of all 4 doors missing paint completely (can you say future rust!)
Leaky Sun Roof (more future rust!)
3rd set of Front Brakes but still original Rear Brakes (What's up with that?)
Truck Bed Squeaks
Power Seat is loose and Squeaks
Defective cooling system thermostat
Dashboard Squeaks
Defective Cruse Control (Recall)
And that DAM Ringing noise coming from under the truck at highway speeds!

And the latest items

Defective Antilock Brake computer
Bad Ball Joints (BTW, trucks never been off road)
Squealing Idler pulley during starts
Failure of the limited slip differential clutch.

Now if I had been smart I would have notice that Ford only has 3 year 36,000 mile warrantee. My Toyota had 6/60. So the above 4 latest items will cost me $4,000.00!!!!!! BUT after days of arguing, Ford decided to cover ONLY the limited slip since I was complaining of that problem on the record for 3 years but they couldn't find what was wrong. To fix the other 3 items will only be $3000.00 now.

Update 8/23/04
Idle control motor failed.
Windshield cracked. (I hit a pothole and the windshield cracked!)
Sport Trac Flunked the governments rollover test with the lowest rating ever given!

Update 6/24/05 70,000 miles.
Lost another set of front brakes and rotors. That makes 4 sets of front pads.  Never heard one squeak from the wear indicators.  I Still have the original back brakes.
Transmission isn't shifting right.  Sometimes it waits to shift or shifts too soon.
Sun Roof leak is back after the dealer fixed it.

Update 9/1/05 80,000 miles.
The replacement Tires Ford put on my truck started to fail with 32,000 miles on them. Replaced all 4 tires.
The front bearings are making a whining sound.  Its goes back in the shop on Tuesday.
I still have the sunroof leak and cracked windshield!
The radio is acting up.  When I try and turn the Volume down it intermittently goes up instead.

And STILL this truck has never been off road.  I use it to drive to and from work and put the national average number of miles on it annually.

To those of you saying Lemon Law, well in NJ that's ONLY if a problem occurs in the first 18,000 miles and only if the dealer can't fix it in 3 tries. My first complaint about the clutch was at 20,000.

Larson Ford and Ford Motor Corporations Customer Service are Horrible.  They failed to resolve any of my issues until I provided paperwork proving my previous in warrantee complaints even though they had all the complaints in their computer system already.  Few people save all their service records, but fortunately I did.  Well  Ford folks I guess you won the battle but in reality I won the war cuz....

Never will I buy another Ford.  You've lost me as a customer for life.

So IMHO NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY A FORD!!
