10/01/2011 Been a long time since I updated this page.  I had a HTC 8525 with WM6 on it for a long time.  Good Device!  Lots of features and functions.  It was a great business tool.  I finally wore it out and brought an identical used one to replace it.  When that one died I decided to try an iPhone.  The iPhone would be great "IF" my goal was to play Angry Birds.  But as a business tool it was and still is horrible.  So after 10 days I dumped the iPhone4 and got an HTC Aspire (Droid)  It is less horrible as a business tool  but it is still lacking as a business tool.  The contacts don't sort properly and have no business features.  The calendar is so bad that without additional reminder apps you would miss most appointments.

I guess the cell phone world doesn't care about business users anymore.  They make more money from angry birds to give a hoot about use business users.  I should have stuck with Windows Mobile.

UPDATE: 07/06/05  Ok so the under water noise is the Ford crappy interior.  After replacing the Blue Tooth hands free car adapter the noise still exists.  Preliminary testing shows the V551 seems to have better reception but its still too soon for me to say for sure.  I need some more real life testing.  I'll post again when I'm sure.

UPDATE: 06/24/05  I've given up on the V600.  What a piece of Crap. The Motorola V600 has major problems!   Cingular is blaming Motorola and Motorola blames Cingular. I have replaced my V600 with a V551 (free replacement after so many many complaints).  Atleast the V551 is closer to the V600 then the V400.  I see an  improvement but its too soon to tell for sure.

Also my Bluetooth car kit died.  I'm getting that replaced under warrantee also.  People were telling me I sounded like I was under water but I always figured it was the noisy/crappy Ford Sport Trac interior.  Now it seems the unit may have been bad all along.  I'll let you know if I'm still under water after its replaced.

UPDATE: 11/28/04  Seems the Motorola V600 has a problem when used on Cingular networks.  Cingular is blaming Motorola and Motorola blames Cingular. The problem relatates to Static, dropped calls and Callers suddenly being unable to hear me even in full strength areas. Motorola refuses to fix the phone because they claim its not broken and the problem is with Cingular.  Cingular states although the problem is not theirs they are replacing all V600's with V400's.  When I pointed out that I have every bluetooth option and the V400 does not have bluetooth Cingular stated that not their problem.  When I pointed out that the V600 is $200 after rebates and the V400 is $50 they told me that's not their problem either.   Cingular told me I could even-exchange my V600 for a V400 or I could shut up. they also told me forget about canceling the 2 year contract.  According to Motorola the V600 was not designed for the Cingular network it was designed for the AT&T network which Cingular recently merged with.  So I'm a bit pissed off at both Cingular and Motorola right now.  Time to write a bunch of letters to the FCC, Better Business Bureau and Motorola and Cingular.

07/20/2004 I recently replaced my Motorola V400 Cell phone with a V600.  3 Weeks after I purchased the V400 motorol/Cingular finally released the V600.  Since it was less then a month I was able to trade up to the V600.

NOTES: My first major headache was how to create and install a RingTone MP3.  BTW, There seems to be some confusion on what to call a MP3 RingTone.  You may see "MP3 RingTones" referred to as MusicTones.

But after searching  many web sites and posts I was able to piece together how to accomplish this task on the V600.  I'm still in Arrrg Mode cuz no matter how many posts I found, not one person explained the entire process.  EVERYONE left something out.  Come on folks, this isn't job security!  If you going to take the time to explain something do it right!

Visit the Arrrg page to find out how to create your own MusicTones.  I have created a PDA page that you can use to download MusicTones that I create.  Simply visit http://www.inlet.net/pda from your phone's web browser. I have posted three sample MusicTone (Buffett's Fins, Buffett's If the Phone doesn't ring and Jim Brickman's Valentine). If you want to share your music tone, send it to me at

I also purchased the Motorola Bluetooth Headset, Bluetooth Car kit and the Bluetooth USB adapter.  See the Arrrg page for info on installing the car kit.  They both work great.  I can use the headset for private conversations in the car and  I can also use it for field work to free my hands for typing and such.  The car kit has its own Voice recognition features but I've yet to use them.

As I find out more about the V600 V551 I'll post it here.
